Notre Dame Academy’s inaugural season in girls’ lacrosse as a KHSAA sponsored sport has come to an end.
The Pandas dropped their state tournament semifinal contest to Sayre, 10-8. It closes their season out at 17-2 and Monday marked the first loss to an in-state opponent.
They found themselves down 5-2 after the first, 6-3 at halftime and 10-5 after three. They battled within two to make it 10-8 in the fourth with 8:06 to play, but neither team scored the rest of the way.
Goal scorers for Notre Dame were Andrea Carothers, Hannah Powers and Georgi Kirtley with two each, Hannan Dusing and Caitlin Ross with one while Chloe Schaeffer had the lone assist. Grace Panko had eight saves in net.

Notre Dame got to this point after being the Fifth Region champion, won their state tournament opener over South Oldham and defeated Oldham County in the quarterfinals. They started the season 13-0 before suffering their first defeat to Ursula Academy (Ohio) on May 5. They outscored the opponent 272-123 this season.
Minus the state quarterfinal game with Oldham County (missing stats report), Powers set the program record for goals in a season with 93. Kirtley finished with 50 goals and 28 assists, Carothers adding 33 goals with 17 assists. Dusing led the team in assists with 34. Panko tallied 94 saves and had a 6.5 goals against average per game.
