FORT THOMAS, KENTUCKY, July 29, 2026 – Iconic ‘90s alternative rock band, Toad the Wet Sprocket, has been announced as the headliner for the 2026 Merchants & Music festival in Fort Thomas, KY and will be performing on Saturday, September 19 at 9pm.
Toad the Wet Sprocket has been a defining force in alternative rock for four decades. Formed in Santa Barbara, California, the band rose to prominence with their 1991 platinum-selling album Fear, which produced the Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 hits “All I Want” and “Walk on the Ocean.” Their follow-up album, Dulcinea (1994), also achieved platinum status and featured fan favorites “Fall Down” and “Windmills.”
Known for their heartfelt songwriting and signature harmonies, Toad the Wet Sprocket has sold millions of albums worldwide and has appeared on major tours alongside artists such as The Cranberries and Hootie & the Blowfish. Their music has also been featured in popular films and television shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson’s Creek, Empire Records, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the platinum-selling Friends soundtrack.
After reuniting in 2006, the band has continued to release new music, including New Constellation (2013), Starting Now (2021), and Rings: The Acoustic Sessions. Merchants & Music is the largest, free music festival in Northern Kentucky as it enters its 22nd season this year and has featured past performances by Niko Moon, Bret Michaels, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Andrew McMahon, Dustin Lynch, and Gabby Barrett, along with hometown favorites such as Borderline, River City, Tone Yard, and Jamison Road. The festival also showcases NKY/Cincinnati food trucks, West Sixth Beer, and local vendors.
Opening for Toad the Wet Sprocket is an incredible lineup including The Tillers, Noah Smith, and the Gina and Johnny Band.
This year, the City of Fort Thomas is expanding the festival experience by partnering with local businesses to host live performances from regional musicians beginning at 10am within storefronts throughout the community. This daytime activation highlights local talent and encourages visitors to explore and engage with Fort Thomas’ small business district.
The celebration will culminate in the signature evening event at Tower Park, where attendees will enjoy a dynamic mix of live music, visual arts, local vendors, and food trucks. By prioritizing regional artists alongside a nationally recognized headliner, the festival showcases the best of Northern Kentucky while creating a vibrant, destination-worthy experience.
Through this expanded format, the Merchants & Music Festival continues to strengthen community connections, support local businesses, and position Fort Thomas as a hub for arts, culture, and tourism.
