Woodfill Elementary, a Fort Thomas Independent Public Schools district school, has been honored with a Lighthouse Certification for implementing its “Leader in Me” program.
The program is an, “evidence-based PK-12 model, developed in partnership with educators, designed to build resilience and leadership in students, create a high-trust culture, and help improve academic achievement,” according to a press release from the district. “This model equips students, educators and families with the leadership and life skills needed to thrive, adapt and contribute in a dynamic world.”
The school was informed on March 7 that it had received the honor, called a Lighthouse certification. About 700 schools worldwide have been honored with the certification, which lasts for two years. After the two-year period ends, the school can apply for recertification.
“We are thrilled to hear Woodfill has achieved Lighthouse status!” Woodfill Elementary Principal John Gesenhues said in the same release. “This honor reflects the hard work, dedication, and support of our entire community.“
