Christopher J. Lauer II, a Campbell County Police Department captain, has been appointed assistant commander of the Northern Kentucky SWAT team.
The Northern Kentucky SWAT Executive Board announced Lauer’s appointment during a special meeting, along with the appointment of Independence Police Captain Michael D. Brock as commander of the regional team.
“Captain Chris Lauer’s dedication, experience, and proven leadership with the Northern Kentucky SWAT Team made selecting him as Assistant SWAT Commander an easy decision,” said Campbell County Sheriff and NKY SWAT Chief Executive Officer Mike Jansen. “His professionalism, commitment to his fellow officers, and years of service to the SWAT Team made him, without question, the right person for this important leadership role.”
According to Northern Kentucky SWAT, Lauer brings tactical law enforcement experience, leadership and a commitment to the continued success and professional development of the team. The organization said its new leadership will continue to emphasize professionalism, preparedness, teamwork, accountability and service to Northern Kentucky communities.
“We are very proud of Captain Lauer on his appointment as Assistant Commander,” said Campbell County Police Chief Craig Sorrell. “His many years of leadership on the SWAT team, diverse law enforcement experience, and military service as a United States Marine will serve the Northern Kentucky community well. As he has done in his many other roles, I know that Captain Lauer will do an outstanding job.”
As assistant commander, Lauer will help lead the regional SWAT team and support its continued training, preparedness, and operations.
The Northern Kentucky SWAT Team is a regional organization serving communities throughout Northern Kentucky.
