Scam alert! Graphic provided | The City of Independence

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is warning against a new scam.

The sheriff’s office reminds everyone that they will never call you asking for payment over the phone to resolve any legal issues. If you receive a call or email claiming to be from them, do not engage.

Key points to remember:

  • The office will never ask you to pay over the phone to resolve a warrant or any legal document.
  • They do not send court documents via email requesting payment.
  • No deputy will ever meet you outside of its offices to rectify a situation.
  • Scammers are impersonating deputies past and present as well as using the office address (1098 Monmouth St.) to try to deceive you.

If you receive any suspicious calls or emails, do not provide any personal information or money. Always verify by calling the sheriff’s office directly at (859) 292-3833.
