The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments, known locally as OKI, announced the award of $11.2 million for eight NKY transportation projects.
The total funds awarded is $11,280,625.
The initiatives include:
- Crestview Hills: Thomas More Parkway will be resurfaced and improved with drainage. The federal funds awarded are $896,839, with a 40% local match.
- Highland Heights: A new multi-use path and sidewalk will be built along US 27. The federal funds awarded are $3,045,927 with a 20% local match.
- TANK+ Program: 18 new vehicles to support the TANK+ micro-transit program. The federal funds awarded are $3,456,000 with a 20% local match.
- Boone County Fiscal Court: A multi-use path will be constructed along Conrad Lane from Bullittsville Road to KY 237 in Boone County. The federal funds awarded are $1,377,859 with a 50% local match.
- Boone County Fiscal Court: Weaver Road Sidewalk Project. The federal funds awarded are $462,000 with a 25% local match.
- Bellevue: Van Voast Pedestrian Bridge (additional funds.) The federal funds awarded are $648,000 with a 20% local match.
- Fort Wright: Dixie Highway Sidewalk Construction. The federal funds awarded are $679,932 with a 40% local match.
- Villa Hills: Rogers Road Pedestrian Bridge. The federal funds awarded are $715,000 with a 20% local match.
“This year’s improvements range from the basic to the advanced, but they all are aimed at making every aspect of life in the region better,” said OKI CEO Mark Policinski. “The goal is to ensure that all trips by car, bus, bike or walking are easier to do and add to the quality of life for everyone in the region. These community projects approved by OKI are wise investments in our safety, our environment and our economy.”
OKI is a council of local governments, business organizations and community groups committed to developing collaborative strategies, plans and programs to improve the quality of life and economic development potential of the region.
OKI awarded the funds through the Surface Transportation Block Grant program, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality improvement funds and Transportation Alternatives federal programs.
