The Purple People Bridge fully reopened Thursday evening after passing inspection, according to Purple People Bridge Company President Will Weber.
“It’s a little more purple than it was back when we had to close it in May,” Weber said. That’s due to a new paint job on the interior of the bridge.
The Purple People Bridge is a privately owned pedestrian-only bridge for walkers, runners and bikers. It closed for repair on the Cincinnati side in May after sandstone was damaged.
“We have certainly made some upgrades to the entire bridge for the experience of walking and biking again,” Weber said.
The bridge will be closed again starting at 8 a.m. Sunday for the Labor Day fireworks and will reopen at about 2 a.m. Monday.
