No foul play suspected for body recovered near Newport bridge

Police do not suspect foul play in the case of a body that was recovered from the Ohio River on Monday afternoon.

A body was recovered from the Ohio River near the Taylor-Southgate Bridge in Newport around 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 8, according to the Newport Fire Department. The body was turned over to the Campbell County coroner, who has not released information on the identity or cause of death of the individual.

According to Campbell County Dispatch, the case was turned over to the Newport Police Department investigative team on Tuesday. Investigators told LINK nky there is no foul play suspected in the case, and the lack of information released since its recovery is to respect the privacy of the family.
