Early voting in the 2022 Kentucky Primary Election begins this week. 

Here is when and where Northern Kentucky residents can cast their ballots before the Tuesday, May 17 Primary Election Day. 

Boone County

Absentee voters who requested a mail-in ballot have until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, to drop off their ballots at a designated secure dropbox, or mail it in to the Boone County Clerk’s Office. Voters must provide postage. 

Secure dropbox locations in Boone County include: 

  • Boone County Clerk’s Office, Voter Registration Department: 2950 Washington St., in Burlington
  • Boone County Public Library, Florence Branch: 7425 US 42 Hwy, in Florence
  • Boone County Public Library, Hebron Branch: 1863 N. Bend Road, in Hebron
  • Boone County Public Library, Union Branch: 8899 US 42 Hwy, in Union

Early in-person absentee voting, or “excuse only” voters, may cast their ballots between Wednesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 11 during normal business hours at the Boone County Clerk’s Office in the Voter Registration Department, located at 2950 Washington St. in downtown Burlington. The clerk’s office is open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The office is closed on weekends. 

Early voting for all residents begins Thursday, May 12. Each day has slightly different hours for early voting to accommodate varying work schedules. On Thursday, May 12, early voting at all early voting centers will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; then 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday; and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Early voting ends in Boone County on Saturday, May 14. 

Boone County early voting locations include: 

  • Burlington location: Boone County Enrichment Center, 1955 Burlington Pike 
  • Florence location: Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Blvd. 
  • Walton location: Walton Fire Station, 12600 Towne Center Drive

Campbell County

In-person absentee voting, or “excuse only” voting in Campbell County begins Wednesday, May 4 and ends Wednesday, May 11. Absentee voters can go to the Campbell County Administration Building from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to cast their ballots. Voters have until Tuesday, May 3 to complete online requests for absentee ballots at govote.ky.gov. 

All other early voters can cast their ballots from Thursday, May 12 through Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at: 

  • Campbell County Administration Building, 1098 Monmouth St., in Newport
  • First Baptist Church, 4410 Alexandria Pike, in Cold Spring
  • Southern Campbell County Fire District, 1050 Race Track Road, in Alexandria

Kenton County

Absentee voters may drop off their completed ballots by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 3, at one of two locations: 

  • Kenton County Government Center, located at 1840 Simon Kenton Way, in Covington
  • Historic Kenton County Courthouse, located at 5272 Madison Pike, in Independence

Absentee ballots may be mailed into the Kenton County Clerk’s office. The voter must provide postage. 

In-person absentee voting, or “excuse only” voting, will begin on Wednesday, May 4. Kenton County residents with an excuse to vote by this method can go to the Kenton County Government Center at 1840 Simon Kenton Way in Covington, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Wednesday, May 4 until Friday, May 6, and again on Monday, May 9 until Wednesday, May 11. 

Early voting for all other residents begins Thursday, May 12 and is available until Saturday, May 14. Locations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and they include: 

  • Independence Senior Center, 2001 Jackwoods Parkway, in Independence
  • Life Learning Center, 20 W. 18th St., in Covington
  • Kenton County Government Center, 1840 Simon Kenton Way, in Covington
  • Lakeside Christian Church, 195 Buttermilk Pike, in Lakeside Park
  • Calvary Baptist Church, 3711 Tibbatts St., in Covington
  • St. Barbara’s Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Road, in Erlanger
