Progress on the new new Ovation music venue in Newport is slowly moving along…and that means a road closure later this week.

This Thursday, July 23, the City of Newport will allow Maxim Crane to close 4th Street from Columbia Street to Central Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. so the company can lift materials needed for the project onto the site.

This closure will require west bound traffic to utilize 7th street and/or Columbia Street to Rt 9 through the round-a-bout to bypass the area and proceed west.

Progress continues on the Ovation site.

The Veteran’s Memorial/4th Street Bridge will remain open to the public via the round-a-bout. Signage will be posted identifying the closure and detours.
