The Kenton County Public Library will celebrate a special 20th anniversary of its annual Haunted Library event later this month.

“For 20 years, Haunted Library has brought creativity, imagination and more than a few good scares to our community,” said Denise Fritsch, executive director of Kenton County Public Library. “We’re excited to celebrate this Halloween tradition and the staff who bring it to life.”

The event will see the library’s Independence branch transform into a haunted attraction for all ages. This year, the event will invite attendees to uncover the secrets of a long-abandoned candy factory in Smoat, Vermont, in what the library has dubbed “The Confectionery Catastrophe.”

“Rumors of missing employees, strange experiments, disturbing creatures and a
mysterious underground cavern have surrounded the property for decades,” reads a press release from the library. “Now, the secrets behind the factory’s closure are waiting to be discovered.”

The event will take place at the Independence branch of the Kenton County Public Library on the evenings of Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24. Find out more at the library’s dedicated event page here.
