President Donald Trump will hold a rally at Truist Arena in Highland Heights today.
Doors to the rally itself will open at 10:30 a.m., and remarks will begin at 2 p.m.; however, traffic in and around Highland Heights will be affected all day. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning drivers that local law enforcement and the Secret Service will enact restrictions on roadways in and around the event. Travelers in the area should plan accordingly.
“Folks should expect traffic delays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. with the most significant delays happening between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.,” according to the cabinet.
The rally comes weeks ahead of the midterm election. A seat in the U.S. Senate is up for grabs, with Republican Andy Barr and Democrat Charles Booker looking to replace longtime incumbent Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell.
A congressional representative in Kentucky’s 4th District is also on the ballot. Republican Ed Gallrein, who won the primary nomination over incumbent Republican Thomas Massie, and Democrat Melissa Strange are looking to fill that seat.
