The all-time leading scorer at Thomas More’s women’s basketball program is now a graduate assistant at Morehead State.
Abby Owings will pursue a master’s degree in adult and higher education.
The Independence native was also a standout player at Simon Kenton High School.
She joins the Morehead coaching staff after scoring 1,789 points as a Saint.
During her senior year, Owings was a finalist for the Josten’s Trophy, which is given to an outstanding NCAA Division III basketball player.
She was also named to the Academic All-District II team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Thomas More won two national titles with Owings.
She graduated in Crestview Hills with a bachelor’s degree in educational issues and a minor in communications.
