Brett Mabry tossed 7 2/3 scoreless innings to lift the Schaumburg Boomers (11-14) to a 6-1 win over the Florence Freedom (9-16) at UC Health Stadium.
The Freedom have now lost three in a row and fall to last place in the Frontier League’s East Division, 8 games behind leader Evansville.
Alexi Colon racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Schaumburg Boomers. He homered in the fourth inning.
The Schaumburg Boomers couldn’t get anything going so long as Jason Postill was on the hill. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just two hits off of Postill, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 2 1/3 innings of work.
Alan Carey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
BeerFest
The Freedom and the Boomers meet again on Saturday as Florence hosts BeerFest.
Twenty breweries + 40 specialty craft beers = 1 heck of a good time as the Freedom will be taking on the Schaumburg Boomers at 6:05pm.
Gates open at 5:05pm, with a post-game concert to follow by Swan as part of 92.5 The Fox Rockin’ Saturdays presented by Kerry Hyundai.
