The LINK nky Team of the Week for Sept. 7-13 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Conner football team.
A bonus for the Conner football team is that they are now eligible for Team of the Season (TOS) for the fall sports season. The weekly nominations and winners for fall will run in to November. St. Henry boys soccer was the first winner for fall, Calvary Christian boys soccer the second, Holy Cross volleyball the third and Conner football the fourth.
A vote will follow for TOS when the fall sports season is wrapped up to determine the winner. The winner for TOS will then be one of three nominees for Team of the Year (TOY) voting in June. Each TOS winner will receive a $500 scholarship that will go to an athlete of their choice.
For the team that is awarded TOY, online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year. The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.
Conner Football
The Cougars earned their first win of the season in a 41-14 victory over Newport Central Catholic on Sept. 11.
It moved Conner to 1-3 and the first varsity coaching win for Chase Floyd.
In the victory they were led by quarterback Ethan Estvanko with 200 passing yards and three touchdowns while he also gained 81 yards on the ground with a rushing touchdown. Jasaiah Lampkin also gad 81 rushing yards with a touchdown.
