This one was called at halftime with due to numerous lightning delays.

Bryce Armstrong threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns, running for 60 and another score while Tayden Lorenzen tallied 42 rushing yards and a TD. Cale Harris and Dom Listerman recorded the touchdown grabs.

In pitching the shutout through the first 24 minutes, the Bluebirds defense registered six tackles for loss and four sacks. Jimi Cox led with two sacks, Gabe Williams with three tackles for loss while Lorenzen and Griffin Benke also had sacks.

Highlands (4-1) gets Harrison County at home next week.

Ryle dropped to 1-4 and despite the game cut in half, failed to score for a third straight game. They look to get back on track next week at Tates Creek.

Mason County 38, Boone County 26

Trailing 19-7, Boone County took a 20-19 lead before Mason County rattled off 19 unanswered for the victory in Maysville.

Malik Johnson ran for 191 yards and a touchdown for the Rebels while Asa LeGrand threw three touchdown passes in defeat. Amare Newberry was the recipient of two of those touchdowns, William Randall the other.

The big difference in this one was turnovers, Boone County losing that battle 3-1. Mason County’s 326 rushing yards helped.

Boone County (2-3) gets a bye week before hosting Conner Oct. 2.

Newport 46, Paris 8

Damarco Jackson ran for 163 yards and four touchdowns in the Wildcats home victory.

Newport (2-3) scored in a variety of ways, including Jackson returning an interception for a touchdown. Tashawn Temple returned a kickoff for a touchdown as the Wildcats defense forced three turnovers and had three sacks.

The Wildcats have a tough task next week as they welcome Sayre.

Lightning wiped this one out as the Jaguars made the trip to Louisville.

Cooper (3-1) plays at Conner next week to open up district play.

Bellevue vs Iroquois, canceled

Lightning won again in Louisville. They will not make this game up.

Bellevue (1-3) plays at Ludlow next week.
