It is not a situation any program likes to find itself in.

But the Campbell County volleyball team is looking for another head coach after Director of Athletics Mike Florimonte confirmed Jessica Ginter stepped down Tuesday after one season. The seniors will have their fourth head coach in four years this fall.

Campbell County came into the season favored to win the 10th Region. But the Camels finished 10-16, losing to cross-town, arch-rival Bishop Brossart in the 37th District semifinals.

That left the Camels out of the 10th Region Tournament for the first time since 2015 and only the second time since the current format formed in 2012. When reached via text, Ginter offered no comment.

Ginter is a Special Education teacher at Campbell County High. Ginter came to Campbell County in May after serving as an assistant at Highlands for three years.

Campbell County graduates just two seniors off the team in defensive specialist Ashlyn Niemeier and hitter Bailey Beiting. But Florimonte said the tradition built over the years and the return of a number of talented players makes the job attractive. Florimonte said the job has already been posted.

Junior Ella Thorwarth returns after leading the Camels with 362 digs and junior setter Ava Crowl returns after leading Campbell County with 440 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist A lon McIntyre comes back after leading the Camels with 48 aces. The top two hitters in junior Emma Manser at 6-foot-1 and Lexi Sharold at 6-feet recorded 266 and 246 kills, respectively.

The Camels have made the state semifinals three times in school history. Kennedy Berkley guided Campbell County to its third state semifinal appearance in 2018 where the Camels lost to state power Louisville Assumption.

Campbell County also lost in the state semis in 1980 and ’98.
