Elsmere Mayor Marty Lenhof is celebrating Joe Pannunzio for 18 years of service to the city.

On Tuesday, Elsmere City Council presented Pannunzio with a mayoral proclamation and key to the city for his work and devotion to his community.

“Mr. Pannunzio has demonstrated unwavering dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout his many years of service to the city of Elsmere and greater Kenton County community,” said Lenhof.

Beginning his service in 2007, Pannunzio became a member of the Elsmere Board of Adjustments, hearing zoning appeals from around the city. From 2012 to 2025, Pannunzio served as Elsmere’s representative on the Kenton County Planning Commission.

“When I first became mayor, we didn’t have a lot of boxes filled in. It kind of looked kind of shabby,” said Lenhof. “But I will say, once Joe took over, we filled the boxes.”

“These are simply volunteer positions,” said Lenhof. “It’s hard to find people that’ll give up their time, family and so forth and be a representative for the city of Elsmere.”

Pannunzio moved to Elsmere in 1986 with his wife and three children, residing in the Elsmere community for 40 years.
