Cooper 42, Dixie Heights 13
(Submitted by Dave Hartman)
On a day that Taylor Swift debuted her 12th album and in the process smashed records in sales and streaming the Cooper Jaguars had two standouts eclipsing records of their own.
Cam O’Hara and Keagan Maher both achieved milestones Friday night at Rice-Mountjoy Stadium as the Jaguars took down Dixie in workmanlike fashion, with a 42-13 victory.
Cam O’Hara needed 118 yards to become only the 12th quarterback in KHSAA history (as of the KHSAA record book up to 2021) to surpass 10,000 yards passing. O’Hara went over 10,000 yards with an early 3rd quarter completion en route to an efficient evening through the air by going 12-for-17 for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Like O’Hara, Maher needed 118 yards to place his name atop the rushing record at Cooper. Maher topped that mark in the 3rd quarter while carrying 28 times for 173 yards and adding 3 touchdowns. Not to be outdone, Ryker Campbell found paydirt three times with one of them being a 65 yard touchdown reception and two rushing touchdowns.
The Jags headed to the locker room at the half with a 28-0 lead and the lead ballooned to 42-7 early in the fourth quarter to reach a running clock for the second straight week. Cooper (4-3) improves to 2-0 in district play with a bye week up before they play at Scott on Oct. 17.
Dixie’s Nishawn Golsby was all over the field on both sides of the ball for the Colonels, logging 172 yards in total offense and one touchdown reception while adding 10 tackles on defense.
Dixie (2-5, 1-1) hosts Conner on Thursday in a game that will most likely decide the No. 2 seed in the district.

Ryne Ravenscraft threw for a touchdown to Brennan Lemmond while Lucas Pate and Cy Parento had rushing touchdowns for the Crusaders scoring.
