It took three days for the second 33rd District seed game between the Conner Cougars (10-1 overall) and the Cooper Jaguars (2-7) to take place because of rain.
But it finally happened and the Cougars took care of the Jaguars, 7-4 to move to 2-0 in district seed play staying with Ryle, who swept Boone County earlier in the week. Conner built a 5-1 lead in the top of the third. The Cougars scored two unearned runs off four Jaguar errors while yielding one on two errors.
Senior Jackson Bucks (3-0) earned the win pitching into the fifth inning striking out seven and walking three. Senior Oliver Kerns completed the game striking out three and walking one for the Cougars.
Conner batted .300 (9 for 30) overall. Bucks doubled and senior first baseman Jeffery Vest went 2 for 3 with three runs batted in and a run scored. Senior Brody Mangold went 2 for 4.
Cooper used several pitchers in the game. Junior Logan Farmer (0-2) took the loss in relief.
Cooper batted .192 (5 for 26) in the loss. Senior shortstop James Crowe led the Jaguars going 3 for 4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Senior Trevor Ollier added a double.
