OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and LINK nky are excited to expand once again and continue addition to the LINK nky Team of the Week (TOTW) weekly winners, the program will be including three winners for Team of the Season (TOTS) and one overall winner for Team of the Year (TOTY) for the 2025-26 sports seasons.
Sports seasons are considered fall, winter and spring for the purpose of this awards program. At the conclusion of each sports season, an overall TOTS winner will be chosen from all previous TOTW winners for that season. Their school will receive a commemorative plaque and also receive a $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.
Finally, the program culminates by selecting one TOTY from the three TOTS award winners. Online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.
The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.

BEECHWOOD BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

The Tigers won the Class A title in Lexington on May 21, scoring 63 points to runner-up Bishop Brossart’s 41.
Brody Aylor won the 100 meters as did the 4×100 relay team of Nathan Pabst, Cole Hoskins, Chase McDaniel and Aylor. Gannon Parke, Elijah Muck, Braxton Lindloff and Charlie Skeen won the 4×800.
COVINGTON CATHOLIC BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

The Colonels overwhelmed the field on May 22 at the Class 2A state meet at the University of Kentucky – they won their third straight team title over Lexington Catholic, 105.50-51.
Four Colonels gathered individual wins: Klosinski (who won his second straight), Rhett Blettner in the 400-meter dash, Jacob Keller in the 110 hurdles, and Braden Franxman, who beat teammate Joe Mayer in the 3,200. CovCath also won the 4×800 and 4×400 relays.
The 4×800 team was Jackson Germann, Luke O’Hara, Mayer and Jack Salyers. The 4×400 team was Rhett Blettner, Sam Stout, Jackson Germann and Jack Fender.
SIMON KENTON SOFTBALL

Lauren McIntosh pitched a complete game four-hitter and struck out 14 Grant County batters as the Lady Pioneers ended Grant County’s five year reign as 32nd district champs.
RYLE SOFTBALL

Ryle (20-11) won a second consecutive district title with a tight one over Conner 6-5 at Boone County High School.
A three-run fifth inning fueled by Kam Patterson’s two-run homer gave the Lady Raiders a 5-3 lead and they hung on from there. They took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth thanks to a Makenna Hirshey RBI single.
Addison Farmer worked a 1-2-3 seventh to earn the save, pitching the final 1.2 innings in allowing just a hit and a walk. Rayne Patsel picked up the win, tossing 5.1 innings of two-hit baseball, allowing four earned runs and walking five.
Kiley Patterson led Ryle at the plate with two hits as they collected seven as a team.
BISHOP BROSSART SOFTBALL

Anna Bezold kept a high-powered Campbell County offense in check as the Lady ‘Stangs won their first district title since 2016 and snapped the Camels district title streak at eight.
Bezold allowed just two hits, struck out six and walked four in the complete game effort.
Brossart collected six hits, Rachel Shewmaker leading the way with two as they were aided by four Campbell County errors, giving them three unearned runs.
WALTON-VERONA BASEBALL

Bronson Corpus hit a 3-run homer and struck out 12 batters as the Bearcats won their first district title since 2021 and snapped Simon Kenton’s district title streak at four.
Corpus’ 3-run bomb came in the bottom of the third, helping his own cause as he pitched 6.2 innings, allowed six hits with an earned run and three walks with his 12 punch outs.
William Hurles and Kainan Held had two hits apiece for the Bearcats, both scoring on the Corpus homer.
CONNER BASEBALL

The Cougars put up six runs in the first two innings and never looked back on their way to a second straight district title with a 10-3 win over Ryle.
Grayson Wagner was the man of the hour for Conner, belting two homeruns and driving in six runs. His first bomb was a three-run homer in the second to make it 6-0. His second a two-run shot in the fourth to help capitalize a four-run inning and help make it 10-3.
Brady Bushman and Cooper Kelly also had multi-hit games for the Cougars, Bushman adding three runs. Kelly picked up the win on the mound, throwing 4.1 innings, allowing five hits, an earned run and walking four. Everett Hall pitched 2.2 hitless in relief, striking out a pair.
