LINK nky is once again excited to partner with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and announce the highly popular Team of the Week and Team of the Season awards are back for 2025-26 sports seasons!

The LINK nky Team of the Week presented by OrthoCincy is hitting the home stretch for winter sports.

TOW will continue through February before we get into our Team of the Season voting in March!

LINK nky is once again excited to partner with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and announce the highly popular Team of the Week, Team of the Season and Team of the Year awards!

Nominations and Voting

Each week, a call for Team of the Week nominations will be announced via LINK nky’s online and printed editions with links shared on all of LINK nky social media platforms. The inclusive nomination and selection process will highlight the team’s achievements from the prior week with a supported photo of the team to represent them.

Voting instructions along with each nominated team’s accomplishment(s) will be published online every Monday and posted in that week’s print edition. A link will be shared via social media as well. The voting process is open to the public through Friday at noon each week, and the newest TOTW will be announced with a featured article on Friday and featured in the following week’s print edition.

Participants can vote multiple times a day and can vote every day leading up to the close of voting. All are encouraged to share voting links to help promote the team of their choice.

Team of the Season and Team of the Year

Again this year, the program will include Team of the Season (TOTS) and Team of the Year (TOTY) awards. Sports seasons are considered fall, winter and spring for the purpose of this awards program. At the conclusion of each sports season, an overall TOTS winner will be chosen from all previous TOTW winners for that season. Their school will also receive a $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.

Finally, the program culminates by selecting one TOTY from the three TOTS award winners. Online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.

The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.

HOLY CROSS GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Lady Indians secured a fourth All “A” state title in program history with a 60-42 victory over Owensboro Catholic on Sunday. They become the only girls program in the state with four All “A” titles, three of them coming over the last four years.

Jai Johnson was named tournament MVP while Alyssa Arlinghaus, Riley Eberhard and Avery Sturgeon made the All-Tournament team. Holy Cross is now 19-2 on the season.

CAMPBELL COUNTY BOWLING

The Campbell County boys and girls bowling teams won the Region 5 bowling tournament last week and advance to the state tournament on Feb. 9-11.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN BOYS BASKETBALL

The Cougars have won seven straight games, improving their record to 15-6. Last week they defeated Ludlow and Villa Madonna.

They’ve been led by Collin Duty and Luke Getsy in scoring, averaging 15.6 and 11.6 points per game, respectively. Matt Ayylidiz, Finn Zachary and Blake Couch have also played pivotal roles, socring 9.3, 8.0 and 7.5 points per game.

NOTRE DAME ACADEMY SWIM AND DIVE

The Pandas won the Region 7 swim and dive meet over Highlands, 495-426.

Notre Dame sophomore Clare Herfel, the defending state champion in the 500 freestyle, won the 200 and 500 Saturday. She beat Panda teammate Danaka Tucker by a little more than three seconds in the 200 and just over six tics in the 500. And was later named Competitor of the Year in the region.

RYLE SWIM AND DIVE

Ryle claimed the boys Region 7 swimn and dive team championship over Highlands, 485-446. 

Ryle senior swimmer Chase Knopf won the 200 and 500-yard freestyle and was named Competitor of the Year. He won the 200 freestyle by nearly two seconds over Raider teammate Nash Parsons and the 500 freestyle by just under six seconds ahead of Beechwood’s Cono Presti. He was also part of the Raiders’ winning the 200 and 400 freestyle relay quartets. Raiders coach Jeff Floyd was named boys region coach of the year.
