LINK nky is once again excited to partner with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and announce the highly popular Team of the Week and Team of the Season awards are back for 2025-26 sports seasons!

The LINK nky Team of the Week for Sep. 15-Sept. 21 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Walton-Verona girls soccer team.

The Bearcats garnered an impressive lead, securing just over half of the total votes with approximately 4,400. Conner football delivered a strong performance as well, earning nearly 3,300 votes.

A bonus for the Walton-Verona girls soccer team is that they are now eligible for Team of the Season (TOS) for the fall. There will also be a winter and spring winner. Each TOS winner will receive a $500 scholarship that will go to an athlete of their choice and they will then be considered for Team of the Year (TOY)

For the team that is awarded TOY, online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year. The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.

WALTON-VERONA GIRLS SOCCER

Walton-Verona is in top-notch form, showcasing an impressive 13-3-2 record.

Last week, they landed wins over Pendleton County (6-0), Grant County (3-1) and Frankfort (5-0), positioning themselves as the leader in victories within the eighth region.

Campbell Christy is having a phenomenal season, netting 35 goals, placing her eighth in the state and the leader in all of northern Kentucky. Christy recently set the program record for most goals and assists in her high school career.

Aubrey and Ava Fuller have also combined for 20 goals.

Ava Fuller leads the team and the area with 13 assists, Christy is right behind her with nine.

Brynn Willis has 87 saves and nine shutouts, four in the month of September. Her number of shutouts puts her at sixth in the state. She also recently set a program record, recording her 22nd career shutout.

The Bearcats final three regular season games are at home, against Woodford County, Villa Madonna, and Scott.
