BOONE COUNTY BOYS BASKETBALL

Boone County returned a lot of experience and it’s showing early on as they’re off to their first 3-0 start since the 2013-14 season with wins over Newport Central Catholic (71-58), Highlands (82-60) and Tates Creek (68-60).
The Rebels returned four starters from last year’s team and nine seniors on the roster. Standouts from the 3-0 week were Elijah Bodkin, Maddox Jones, Thomas Williams, Izaiah Burks and Mason Hall.
Bodkin averaged 13.3 points per game and seven rebounds per game. Jones had a double-double in each of the three contests, averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds. Williams averaged 12.3 points per game and pulled down five rebounds per game. Burks averaged 5.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in the three games and Hall led the team with 18.3 points per game in the week, including back-to-back 20-plus point performances in the wins over Highlands and Tates Creek while he also grabbed 6.3 rebounds per game.
Boone County faces Newport on Tuesday for their lone game this week.
DIXIE HEIGHTS GIRLS BASKETBALL

Despite losing two 1,000 point scorers and one of the top returners transferring, Dixie Heights is off to a 3-0 start to the season.
The Colonels opened the first week of the season with wins over Highlands (42-32), Grant County (61-58) and Mercy (49-37).
Standouts from the week include Jalynn Brooks, Asia Carner, Bella Crawford, Aby Thelen, Catherine Buddenberg and Avery Moore.
Brooks averaged nine points and nearly five rebounds a game in the three victories while hitting all six free throw attempts. Carner scored a tad over seven points per game and pulled down nearly four rebounds per contest. Crawford led the team in scoring with 12 points per game and hit 11-of-14 free throw attempts while pulling down nearly six rebounds per game. Thelen’s 17 point, seven rebound effort against Grant County helped them escape with the narrow victory while Moore hit 4-of-6 from the field to finish with eight points and three rebounds in the win over Mercy.
Dixie Heights made teams pay at the free throw line in their undefeated week, hitting 26-of-32 attempts.
They’ll look for another productive week with Holy Cross and Boone County on the schedule this week.
SIMON KENTON BOYS BOWLING

The Simon Kenton boys’ bowling team won the NKAC Division I trophy on Dec. 2.
Listed on the KHSAA roster are: Alex Blume, Tyler Blume, Hayden Fields, Tony Fox, Jordan Froelicher, Raiyu Halpin, Braden Heber, Liam Kilby, Aleck Meredith, Elijah Moher, Elijah Sims, Bowyn Williams and Reid Williams.
DIXIE HEIGHTS GIRLS BOWLING

The Dixie Heights girls bowling team won the NKAC Division I bowling title.
Members listed on the KHSAA roster are: Alyssa Bechtol, Jessica Bishop, Ava Cunningham, Bekah Edmonson, Rylee Phelps, Sarah Riggs-Augur and Abree Young.
NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC BOYS AND GIRLS BOWLING

The Newport Central Catholic boys and girls bowling teams won the NKAC Division II titles on Dec. 2.
Members of the boys team are: Ben Bucher, Aidan Combs, Ryan Desmond, Brady Diedenhofer, Reid Enxel, Sam Greene, Tyler Kevill, Preston Koeninger, Sam Krebs, Mario League, Mitchell Martin, Owen Roeder, Connor Seiter, August West and Christian Woods.
Members of the girls team are: Rylee Clore, Eva Greene, Reagan Hill, Amy Kelly, Nora Kelly, Trinity Marron, Reese McCloskey, Reilly McMahon, Katie Meyer and Avery Moeves.
