Rumpke will keep its normal service hours over the Thanksgiving holiday this year, with one exception.

The exception is for the company’s transfer station on Boron Drive in Covington, where customers can drop off waste for later disposal. As such, customers should place their bins out the night before their normal pick up days.

“We understand the holidays can be hectic, and we’re here to make cleanup simple,” said Kevin Hall, Rumpke communications coordinator, in a press release. “For fried turkeys, please remember to solidify any leftover cooking oil before throwing it out. Freezing the oil or mixing it with an absorbent material like cat litter will ensure safe and proper disposal.”

Additionally, Hall highlighted the importance of recycling over the holidays.

“Recycling is a great way to reduce waste, especially during the holidays,” Hall said. “Common items like steel and aluminum cans, cardboard boxes and plastic bottles are all recyclable, but remember that aluminum roasting pans and pie pans do not go into the recycling containers.”

You can find a full list of recyclable items at rumpke.com/residential/recycling-services.

The Covington Transfer Station will operate during the hours listed below from Nov. 27-29:

  • 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 27
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 28
  • 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 29

The transfer station is closed on Sundays.
