The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce presented its NKY Community Award to Donna Salyers on June 25 during the organization’s quarterly board of directors and board of advisors luncheon.
Salyers, founder of the Covington-based faux fur fashion and home décor company Fabulous-Furs, began her career as a newspaper columnist, later taking over a syndicated sewing column for The Cincinnati Enquirer in the 1970s.
That led to a television hosting role on the Christian Broadcasting Network and eventually to the launch of Fabulous-Furs out of her basement in 1989.
Fabulous-Furs is known for its animal-friendly, vegan faux fur products, which have appeared in the Miss Universe Pageant, movies, television shows, and fashion publications.
Salyers has served as a board member for the NKY Chamber and currently sits on the Council of Trustees for Horizon Community Funds. She was inducted into the Cincinnati Business Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2023. Earlier this year, she was recognized as one of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s Great Living Cincinnatians.
