The Diocese of Covington will commemorate Pope Francis, who died on Monday, with two events: one on Friday and the other on Saturday.

The first event will be a sung evening prayer from the Office of the Dead on April 25 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption on Madison Avenue in Covington, beginning at 7 p.m.

Bishop John Iffert will serve as celebrant, and Father Ryan Stenger, judicial vicar and pastor at St. Joseph Parish, Camp Springs, will serve as homilist.

The second event will be a Requiem Mass for Pope Francis, which will also take place at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. The Requiem Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. Bishop John Iffert will serve as celebrant, and Bishop Emeritus Roger Foys will serve as homilist.

“Everyone is welcome to attend,” said a media announcement from the Diocese.
