The election night results for the Kentucky House of Representatives are in, and we now know who the region’s new representatives in Frankfort will be.

Several key Kentucky House seats were up for grabs in Northern Kentucky this year, including House District 65, which contains Covington, and District 67, the only district in NKY currently in Democratic control. The Kentucky General Assembly has a Republican supermajority, making the number of races in the NKY region that had Democratic challengers notable.

While Republicans still control much of the state, one NKY district, District 65 in Kenton County, was flipped in favor of the Democrats.

Representatives in the Kentucky General Assembly are comparable to members of the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. – they write and pass laws and set the state’s budget. They serve two-year terms.
