One of the first orders of business at Bellevue’s January council meeting was the promotion of two police officers.

Lieutenant Alanna Bass

“I have a couple of promotions to do tonight. They were well-deserved,” Bellevue Police Chief Jon McClain said. He then introduced Alanna Bass, who was being promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. She has been a sergeant with the department for seven years.

“I don’t know where the time goes, but she’s been with the city of Bellevue since August of 2014, and I’ve been working with her probably since ’07-‘08, when I was at the jail,” said McClain. “We’ve known each other a long time. It’s well deserved.”

Bass’ parents were on hand to witness her receive her lieutenants’ bars and helped put them on her uniform.

“Thank you. I’m really proud of Trevor [Bonar]. He’s getting promoted, too… We’re excited to continue working hard for the city,” Bass said.

Sergeant Trevor Bonar

McClain then introduced Officer Bonar, who had been promoted to sergeant.

“Officer Bonar’s been with the city since December of 2016, and I’ve known him a couple years prior to that, when he worked at the jail,” said McClain. I first got to know him when I took a subject down there who had busted the windows in the front door of the school, and he made some admissions of guilt. At that time, it was corporal Bonar at the jail, and I had to reach out to him for a statement. He applied with us twice, and the second time we hired him. He’s been a valuable asset ever since. So with that, a well-deserved promotion to Sergeant Trevor Bonar.”

Bonar’s wife and children were on hand to witness the promotion, and he sons helped pin on his insignia.
