Erlanger celebrated the completion of its new public works building at a ribbon cutting Tuesday night.
“We hope to put it to great use and do great things out of this facility for the city,” said Public Works Director Kevin Quinn.
The new facility, located on Montgomery Drive, replaces the previous facility on Jack Scheben Drive. The project grew out of the conclusions of a facilities task force the city convened in 2017, which determined the previous facility contained several deficiencies and hazards. The city purchased the land in January 2022 and broke ground in April 2023.
“I think it’s an exceptional example of what we have come to expect and see from our public works department,” Mayor Jessica Fette said. “Now you have a building that matches the level of effort and love and dedication that you’ve put into the city.”
The new facility is roughly double the size of the previous facility and contains space for maintenance equipment, vehicles and salt. Public Works staff members began moving into the facility on Wednesday.
