Calls for the Covington City Commission to support a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip continued at the legislative meeting Tuesday night.

Residents from both Covington and other areas in Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati region spoke again during the public comment section of the meeting, reiterating many of the same points they had made in previous meetings. They also held up a banner showing the names of Palestinians who have died in the fighting as well as posters showing names and faces of others who’ve died.

The commission showed reluctance to support the proposed resolution in January, and members of the commission offered little discussion of the matter at Tuesday’s meeting.

Similar efforts to pass a ceasefire resolution have taken place in Cincinnati, and at least 48 cities in the United States, including Chicago, Seattle, Saint Louis, Atlanta and Akron, have passed ceasefire resolutions, according to an analysis by Reuters from early February.
