The city of Park Hills appointed representatives to three committees at its city council meeting this week: the Planning and Development Services of Kenton County Council, the Park Hills Forestry Board, and the Board of Adjustments.
The planning and development services committee focuses on city planning and zoning throughout Kenton County; each city then appoints a member to represent the needs of that respective city and reports back information from council meetings.
Councilmember Joe Shields was reappointed to that board, and Councilmember Steve Elkins was appointed as an alternative.
“Zoning issues are the bedrock of a lot of this stuff and knowing about it and contributing to it is very interesting,” Shields said. “It’s important to know that I serve on what’s called a council, that’s where everybody is. I think there’s 15 political jurisdictions. They’re just an advisory board.”
The forestry board is tasked with reforesting Park Hills. Mike Conway was appointed the chairman, with Pat Flannery, Kathleen Laurin, Sally Soderland and Tony Darin appointed as members alongside him.
The Board of Adjustments, which reviews zoning issues and makes necessary adjustments, appointed a new chair and member. Robert Sweet will serve as chair and Mark Cooper was appointed as a member.
