No issues have been reported concerning the controversial Highland Heights recovery home, Oxford House, city council announced during Tuesday’s meeting.

Residents gathered in a packed house at the last meeting in June over shared concerns about the newly opened house, where one long-time resident explained how they felt they were “left in the dark” about the newly leased home in the city.

In light of the recent concerns, the city invited representatives from the Oxford House to attend a future city council meeting to speak directly to citizens about their organization and to answer questions, said City Administrator Michael Giffen.

The recovery home also expressed interest in holding an open house for city residents.

Since the previous meeting, Police Chief Bill Birkenhauer said there hadn’t been any complaints or calls to the police department regarding the behavior of those living in the home.

“We’ve had zero complaints and zero issues with anybody in the house since the last meeting,” Birkenhauer said. “I haven’t heard anything from citizens, nor did we have complaints or any calls.”

Highland Heights City Council’s next meeting will occur on Aug. 1 at 7 p.m.
