The Alexandria branch of PNC Bank is closing on June 23, according to a report from the Pittsburgh Business Times.

The news comes amid a sweeping round of closures which will shutter 47 branches in 14 states, including Arizona, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, California, Pennsylvania, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Colorado, Illinois, Texas and Virginia.

Located at 8210 E. Main St., the bank building was constructed in 1962. Before the 2008 recession, the building was home to National City Bank — a regional bank based out of Cleveland.

In October 2008, Pittsburgh-based PNC acquired National City Bank for roughly $5.2 billion. In 2009, PNC began to phase out the National City branding in favor of its own.

In addition to Alexandria, the branch located 4221 Glenway Ave. in Cincinnati is also closing.

At the time of publishing, PNC has approximately 2,600 branches across the United States. It has the third largest banking market share in the Greater Cincinnati region behind US Bank and Fifth Third, according to the most recent FDIC data.
