A Covington Latin High School “Maestro of Tomorrow” earned an honorable mention from Cincinnati Public Radio in a scholarship contest. 

Julia Devadason, a Covington Latin student, was named among six other musicians who earned an honorable mention in the running for a scholarship contest to “identify outstanding young artists” in the Cincinnati Public Radio listening area “and help them envision a life in music beyond high school,” according to a press release from the station. 

Vivian Chang, a violinist in her freshman year at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio, was named the winner of the radio’s “Maestros of Tomorrow” contest, earning a $1,000 scholarship. 

Spencer Bowden and Angelina Chen, both students of Wyoming High School in Ohio, were runners-up and earned $500 a piece. 

Included in the honorable mentions were Devadason, Jackson Fischer, of William Mason High School; Isaac Wilson, of Purcell Marian High School and Cincinnati Boychoir; Julia Bradley, of William Mason High School; Nilli Tayidi, of Little Miami High School; and Abigail Guinigundo, of the Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts. 

Earning a $500 prize for music education is Mason Middle School teacher Zach Hinson.
