The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6 Office announced there would be multiple upcoming road maintenance projects in Northern Kentucky for late April and early May. LINK nky has acquired a list of the projects below.
Resurfacing on Madison Pike
KYTC District 6 Office is notifying the traveling public that a resurfacing project will begin Sunday night, May 1, on a section of KY 17, Madison Pike, in Kenton County.
Installation work on the traffic loop is complete. The project area is between Pelly Road/KY 17X extending north to the I-275 interchange for a total of 5.2 miles, from the 13.4 to the 18.6 mile-marker.
Milling and resurfacing operations will begin Sunday night, May 1, during the hours of 6 p.m. through 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday. A single lane closure will be in place in the project limits, and will be removed by 6 a.m. each morning.
Pothole Patching on I-71
KYTC District 6 Office is advising motorists that Boone County highway crews will be patching potholes on I-71 starting at midnight into Friday morning, April 29.
A rolling roadblock will be used so that crews can address potholes on both lanes in a safe manner.
- I-71 SB, from the 77.7 to the 69.9 mile-marker: Starting at 12 a.m., crews will be patching potholes on I-71 starting at the I-75 interchange to the Gallatin County line.
- I-71 NB, from the 69.9 to the 77.7 mile-marker: After finishing the southbound side, crews will begin work on the northbound side.
Work should be complete by 5 a.m. Motorists can expect delays during this time.
I-71 Resurfacing in Gallatin County
A resurfacing project on I-71 in Gallatin County on a section of interstate has been rescheduled to start May 8. The project area begins at the Boone County line and ends north of the KY 35 exit near the Kentucky Speedway for a total of 10 miles, 59.9 to the 69.9 mile-marker.
Motorists should watch for lane closures and crews during nighttime hours of 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. the following morning. Work days are Sunday night through Friday mornings, weather permitting.
Hinkle Contracting Company of Paris, KY was awarded the low bid contract for $7.7 million.
The project has an overall completion date of August 2022.
