Wondering what to do with old batteries and electronics? Find the solution this weekend in Florence.

Thomas More Stadium in Florence is hosting a hazardous household waste collection event this Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Residents of Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties can bring electronics, pesticides, televisions, car fluids, adhesives and more. They are not accepting latex paint, appliances, explosives, tires etc. The Northern Kentucky Solid Waste Management area website has the full list of items that will and won’t be accepted.

The dangers of improperly disposed hazardous household waste is an issue across Northern Kentucky. LINK nky spoke to Kenton County Solid Waste Coordinator Megan Clere Abrams about why events like this are important.

“Most of what comes to a hazardous household waste event is leftover consumer products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable and reactive materials,” Abrams said. “We want to keep those things out of our landfills, our soil and water.”

Abrams also pointed out that some of those waste materials can be recovered and recycled.

If you’re planning to attend the disposal event, you can fill out and bring the registration form to 7950 Freedom Way in Florence on November 7.
