The city is at an important point of transition, Fennell said, and he brings a steady, collaborative approach grounded in consensus building and years of experience working with a wide range of community stakeholders, including city officials, educators, residents and business leaders.

His focus is: advancing the best interests of the city, its businesses and its residents.

Fennell is a graduate of Highlands High School. He and his wife, Nikki, have raised four daughters (all Highlands graduates) and are proud grandparents.

Fennell has owned and operated a Fort Thomas business for over 30 years, which he said gives him firsthand insight into the needs of small businesses and working families.

He served 24 consecutive years on the Fort Thomas Independent School Board, becoming the longest-serving member in the district’s history. During his tenure, he worked collaboratively with fellow board members, administrators, teachers, parents, and students to guide the district through a period of historic growth and achievement.

“With a professional background in real estate appraisal and consulting, I played an important role in helping oversee several major school construction projects,” Fennell said. “My work helped ensure these projects were completed responsibly, on time, within budget, and with careful attention to preserving the character and long term strength of the community.”
