Bowman faces a Fort Thomas City Council primary on May 19 against: Allison Alessandro, Steve Arey, Adam Blau, Mary Brown, Brad Fennell, Frances Hoffman, Brandon Long, Lauren McIntosh, Ben Pendery, Huey Pergrem, Brandon Roller, Hunter Schlosser, Eric Strange and Ashley Sullivan.

Bowman told LINK nky he is proud that he helped to create the first Merchant & Music event; drove the process to acquire the Mike Skop Statue that is now in Highland Park; consistently advocated for more transparency and methods for the public to stay informed about issues they had a particular interest in, and more.

“Each council member is but one vote of six, and a thoughtful and thorough dialogue among this body is important, with equal weight given to each point of view,” Bowman told LINK nky.

Bowman said that as an outside observer, he didn’t necessarily think there is necessarily always time for everyone to express individual points of view. Some voices, he said, are particularly pronounced.

“It would be a good thing if all members of council expressed opinions equally,” he said. “I would very much appreciate the opportunity to be a part of that.”

Here are the other races with May primaries

Current issues that Bowman wants to work on include:

  • The proposed Grand Avenue road diet safety enhancements.
  • Re-engage with the water department about opening the south end reservoirs to walking paths.
  • Green space preservation methods and partnerships
  • Advocate for a more logical process for speed limit reductions on many side streets within the city’s control.
  • More improvements to website functionality to include specific opt-in options
  • Acquire and re-purpose the stables building by the VA Hospital and re-visit the recent decision to prohibit murals.
