Candidate spotlight

Candidate for: Fort Thomas City Council

Status: Incumbent

City council was never something Adam Blau said he initially set out to do, but it has become something he feels he was called to do.

The past few years on council have been a roller coaster, Blau said, and many citizens understandably want to place blame on the government as a whole. He said the reality is that council is only as effective as the information it is given and council members’ willingness to ask tough questions and stay informed.

Blau faces a Fort Thomas City Council primary on May 19 against: Allison Alessandro, Steve Arey, Ken Bowman, Mary Anne Brown, Brad Fennell, Frances Hoffman, Brandon Long, Lauren McIntosh, Ben Pendery, Huey Pergrem, Brandon Roller, Hunter Schlosser, Eric Strange and Ashley Sullivan.

“I have said for years that the next city administration and mayor would be tasked with cleaning up the challenges left behind by the previous one,” Blau said. “Unless you have been living under a rock, you are aware of what has been happening, and you likely know where I stand. Regardless of what you may have heard or seen, I have worked diligently behind the scenes to address several of these issues. Unfortunately, the administration and mayor at the time either did not recognize how their decisions and actions were impacting our city, its finances and its citizens and chose not to act.”

Blau said he is encouraged by the leadership mayor, Andy Ellison, has shown since being appointed, and he is looking forward to welcoming new faces to the city council who are committed to moving the city forward.

He said the community deserves thoughtful, transparent and forward-looking leadership. Blau said the city is more than just where someone lives, it is where they build their lives, raise their families and invest in the future.

Blau said his record speaks for itself. He will continue to ask the hard questions others may avoid, and will ensure the community’s voice is heard. Blau encouraged people to take the time to research each candidate and make an informed decision. Anyone with questions or concerns can feel free to reach out to him.
