The chairman of the Boone County Republican Party knocked off incumbent Charles Kenner in the race for Boone County Commissioner – District 2. Chet Hand easily unseated his fellow Republican rival, securing nearly 63% of the vote, according to unofficial results.

Those results trickled in slowly after a delay due to new software used by the state.

With no filed Democratic candidate to run in the General Election, the results mean that Hand is the presumed future District 2 county commissioner and will take office in January 2023.

Judge/Executive Gary W. Moore appears to have defeated his challenger, Timothy Johnson. According to unofficial results, Johnson received roughly 38.5% of the vote to Moore’s 63.8%.

“Once again, I thank the voters of Boone County for their vote and confidence,” Moore said in a statement. “I love coming to work each and everyday to make Boone County a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

Preliminary results also point to Jonathan Brown defeating Jared Bethel in the primary race for property valuations administrator (PVA). Both candidates were vying to take the place of Cindy Martin, who has been in the PVA office for the last 15 years.

Brown said he was “extremely humbled” by the results and thanked voters for their trust and support.
