Reforest NKY and The City of Covington will host an event on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Devou Park near the Rotary Grove Cemetery. Volunteers will perform various kinds of maintenance on trees planted in a reforesting effort in 2015.

“This event is an opportunity for public education and awareness about the importance of trees in our region,” said Reforest NKY in a recent press release. “By planting trees, our landscape and legacy is restored! Trees and forests provide significant, measurable benefits to our communities by improving the environment, economy and our quality of life. Over the last 15 years, more than 42 acres (that’s 32 football fields!) of land been planted with native woodland trees and over 2,7000 volunteers have participated in Reforest NKY.”

Visit the Northern Kentucky Urban & Community Forestry Council’s website to register to volunteer. To learn more about Reforest NKY, contact Reforest NKY Committee Chair Rhonda Ritzi at (859)525-7529 or reforestnky@nkyurbanforestry.org.
