Kenton County Parks and Recreation is encouraging people to get outside and get active with their Walk and Talk nature hike series.

Each hike will feature a different topic of discussion. The hikes will be at three different parks on three separate dates.

Walk and Talk mindfulness hike at Middleton-Mills Park. July 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Reconnect with yourself and nature. A quick guided meditation exercise will take place followed by an easy-moderate “five-senses” hike. The group will be meeting at the youth football field parking lot at 3415 Mills Road, Covington at 9 a.m. for registration.

Walk and Talk weather hike at New Kenton County Park. July 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.

This easy-moderate hike, weather permitting, will allow guests to learn about clouds and weather prediction. The group will be meeting at the main New Kenton County Park parking lot at 604 Independence Station Road at 9 a.m. for registration.

Walk and Talk nature hike at Doe Run Lake. July 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Want to learn more about nature and the outdoors? Along the trails, hikers will learn about local plants and wildlife and about species identification skills. The group will meet at Doe Run Lake’s main gravel parking lot at 1501 Bullock Pen Road at 9 a.m. for registration. This hike is moderate-hard. Please note the trail may be narrow, muddy, and steep in some spots.

Sturdy walking shoes, bug spray, and water bottles are encouraged for each hike.
