Florence Public Works will host its annual night out on Tuesday, May 17.

Since 1960, the American Public Works Association has sponsored National Public Works Week to “energize and educate the public on the importance of public works in their daily lives,” according to a press release from the City of Florence.

Water, sewer, public transportation, and waste removal, and those responsible for maintaining public buildings and grounds are all considered public works programs.

Each year during National Public Works Week, the City of Florence will host an evening with the community to offer hands-on displays of its trucks and city-owned equipment. This year, Florence will host its night out even on Tuesday, May 17 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Florence Mall on Mall Road.

The family-friendly event is free and open to the community.
