The popular Cincinnati Renegade Street Eats food truck is making its location inside The Party Source in Bellevue permanent.
The food truck has been operated by Kris Buening and her husband for the past eight years. Renegade Street Eats specializes in wings, burgers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. Buening has crafted the recipes herself.
“We had approached them (The Party Source) pre-pandemic and pitched the idea of opening the kitchen up to start a catering kitchen to make them The Party Source,” Buening said. “You know, food was one of the few things that they were missing. So, we had approached them about that, but then the pandemic hit, and all ideas got put on hold. They approached us again at the beginning of the year because of the (bourbon) bar opening where Braxton Labs was.”
Buening said Renegade Grille’s menu would have variations from the food truck’s menu but would mostly look the same as their menu when they were located inside Listerman Brewing Company.
“We have a lot of people that miss us,” Buening said. “So, we’re going to come back out with pretty much the same menu items that we had before.”
The restaurant doesn’t have an opening date yet but is targeting the end of September or the beginning of October.
“We want to put in a carry-out window so that people, when they stop to buy their alcohol, will be able to grab lunch, grab dinner, take it home with them, and that’s one of the things that’s still in progress,” Buening said.
As for the food truck, Buening said whether it will remain in operation is still up in the air. Eight years ago, Buening said there were about 16 food trucks in Cincinnati; now, there are around 150.
“We do make a lot of money doing catering jobs with the food truck. So, it’s kind of hard to turn our backs on that, and it got us to where we are today,” Buening said. “So, it’s kind of like our baby. And we’re just deciding if it’s time to let that baby move on or continue where we are.”
Renegade Grille will provide a catering service for parties and events at The Party Source.
Buening said to keep an eye on their social media platforms for their hours of operation. As they figure out their opening date, she said they would be tweaking the hours of operation to see what works best for them.
“We have really missed our longtime friends that we made in our previous location, and hope that everyone will come and visit us again,” Buening said.
