Three organizations in Northern Kentucky are receiving a combined $45,000 for STEM and environmental education from the Duke Energy Foundation. 

On Tuesday, Duke Energy announced it is giving $150,000 to a dozen institutions across the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region. Boone County Schools, Northern Kentucky Education Council and Northern Kentucky University are three of the organizations benefiting from the donation, according to a press release. 

The gifts are part of Duke Energy’s multimillion-dollar grant program that seeks to invest in local initiatives. The utility company provided more than $2 million in grants for education in 2021, according to the release. 

Boone County Schools will receive $10,000 for its STEM career education programs; Northern Kentucky Education Council will receive $15,000 to aid in recovery efforts for COVID-19-related learning loss via its One to One program; and Northern Kentucky University Foundation will receive $20,000 for STEM-focused professional development for teachers. 

Other recipients include: Adventure Crew, B the keeper, imago, iSpace Inc., Miami University, The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, University of Cincinnati Foundation, UpSpring, and the YMCA. 

Later this year, Duke Energy will announce the Greater Cincinnati recipients of its workforce, Urban Revitalization and nature grants.
