The city of Covington released its annual year-in-review newsletter earlier this month, which highlighted many of the projects and events around the city that occurred in 2022.

Mayor Joe Meyer is quoted in the letter, saying, “‘This past year was particularly rewarding because we took significant steps forward on large-scale projects that will elevate life in Covington for generations… And already this year, 2023, we have seen that progress continue.’”

The letter is divided into several categories—workforce development, budget, economic development, infrastructure, neighborhoods, parks & recreation, miscellaneous, welcoming/diversity and personnel—with summaries for key issues and events under each category.

Some notable issues explored in the letter are the progress on the Brent Spence Bridge project, cuts in the property tax rate, the use of federal emergency COVID funds (also known as ARPA funds), the selection of an architecture firm to design the new city hall building and various efforts to support small businesses in the city.

The letter also mentioned the city’s efforts to draw in new businesses through a branding campaign called “Unapologetically Covington.”
