A pit bull was shot and killed by a Taylor Mill Police officer late Thursday night.
Police were called to the 700 block of Saint Matthews Circle just before midnight after receiving a report of an active dog attack.
There, they found a man in the back yard yelling, being attacked by the dog.
When officers yelled at the dog, the pit bull then charged at them, a news release said.
One officer opened fire and killed the animal.
The officers later found a woman inside the home, also suffering from injuries from a dog attack.
Both people were transported to local hospitals for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Taylor Mill Police said that the department is still investigating.
