There’s nothing really quite like the Ludlow Derby.
Also known as “the Rat Races” at Covington Turners, the wacky – and politically incorrect – event returned to Pike Street for its 40th year.
The set-up is not unlike the Kentucky Derby, where eager bettors place dollar amounts on their favorites to win, only instead of star-studded thoroughbreds, the featured attraction is a bunch of tiny mice dumped on a wooden maze and race each other to the finish to the adulation of beer-drinking revelers.
Replace the red carpet and Hollywood celebrities at Churchill Downs with hastily-made signs designed to offend, and you have Turner Hall on Friday night.
The theme for this year’s event was “Trump’s Tramps & the Oval Office”.
