Seats in several of this region’s districts for the Kentucky House of Representatives were up for grabs this primary season.

Kentucky representatives are state lawmakers who introduce and vote on legislation whenever the state legislature is in session. The Kentucky House, in contrast to the Kentucky Senate, tends to focus more on budgetary issues.

House District 63

Votes were still being tallied Tuesday night for the House District 63 Republican primary, which encompasses northwestern portions of Kenton County and parts of Boone County (click here to see a map of the district). No Democrats filed to run in district 63, so the winner will run unopposed in November. LINK will update this story when final results are in.

House District 64

William Nick Whalen won the Democratic primary for Kentucky House District 64 on Tuesday, and Kimberly Poore Moser won the Republican primary, making them the two candidates who will appear on the ballot for the general election in November. District 64 covers much of central portions of the Northern Kentucky region (click here to see a map of the district).

House District 69

Steve Doan secured a victory in the Republican primary on Tuesday for Kentucky House District 69, defeating Jesse Foreman. The Democratic race has not yet been called. LINK nky will update this story when results are in. House District 69 represents portions of Boone County and Kenton County, including parts of Florence and Erlanger, among others. (click here to view a map of the district.) Doan will face winner of the Democratic primary in the Nov. 3 general election.

House District 78

Mark Hart went home with the Republican primary victory Tuesday night for district 78, which encompasses southern portions of Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties, as well as a northern portion of Pendleton County (click here to view a map of the district).

Hart defeated challenger Brandon Montano. No Democrats filed to run in district 78, so Hart will run unopposed in November.
